Relevant Professional Experience

Vascular Sonographer since October 1990. Began work on vascular lab accreditation in the 1990s. Promoted to Vascular Lab Manager in 1996 at The Surgical Clinic in Nashville, TN.  At The Surgical Clinic, expanded vascular lab at  a pace of around 1,000 exams per year to a level of around 14,000 exams per year. Obtained Vascular Lab accreditation through IAC at The Surgical Clinic. Helped establish an SVU chapter (Southeastern Vascular Association – SEVA) as founding Secretary. Published three journal articles in JVU and presented two of the papers at SVU conferences. Currently working at Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Vascular Lab in the Heart and Vascular Institute where we are working on expansion of vascular services through the Middle Tennessee region.

SVU Service

  • Currently on SVU BOD, CME Committee, Meetings Committee, Abstracts Committee and PPG Committee.
  • Served as founding Secretary for SEVA – SVU Committee (Southeastern Vascular Association).
  • Published three papers in JVU.
  • Presented two papers at SVU annual conferences.

Other Professional/Leadership Activities:

Currently serving as President of my son’s high school hockey Board of Directors.

Candidate Statement

I would like to make a difference to SVU and the profession of vascular ultrasound by…

Making the Vascular Sonographer profession more relevant for future generations by promoting career development and continued educational opportunities through online courses and more regional meetings, advocating for appropriate reimbursement levels, supporting enhanced networking through online and social media outlets, encouraging more research and development, endorsing more awareness and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries and working towards a culture where all SVU members know they can also make a difference by having a place to voice and discuss their ideas.
