Below you can submit review qualification and submit nominations for the open board and officer positions.

The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) is now accepting nominations for open positions on the SVU Board of Directors. Serving on the Board is a unique opportunity to help guide the future of the profession and advance the mission of SVU. We invite you to consider nominating yourself or a colleague for one of the following leadership roles. 

Nominations Deadline: Tuesday, August 19, 2025 

Open Board Positions 

Director Roles 

  • Technologist Director (2 positions, 3-year term: 2026–2028)
    These individuals represent the voice and experience of practicing vascular technologists and help shape initiatives that support the clinical community. 
  • At-Large Director (2 positions, 1-year term: 2026)
    Open to all eligible members, these positions provide flexibility in representation and bring diverse perspectives to the Board. 
  • Student Director (1 position, 1-year term: 2026)
    A unique opportunity for a student member to contribute to Board discussions, share insights from the next generation of professionals, and gain leadership experience.
Technologist Directors (2) – Each for a three-year term
The open Technologist Director positions are three-year positions for 2026–2028. SVU Members will elect one Technologist Director for a three-year term. From the pool of remaining candidates, the SVU Board of Directors will appoint one additional Technologist Director for a three-year term.
At-Large Directors (2) – Each for a one-year term
The two At-Large Directors are one-year positions for 2026. At-Large Directors bring special skills and experience to SVU relevant to the successful implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.
Student Director (1) – One-year term (2026)
The Student Director is a full-voting member of the SVU Board. If you are graduating in 2026, you may still serve as the SVU Student Board Representative for the entire calendar year.

Covered Costs:

  • Travel to and from the winter Board Meeting, lodging and meals are provided to Board members. This meeting is typically held in early-to mid-January.
  • All SVU Directors are expected to attend the SVU Annual Conference, which immediately follows the summer Board Meeting. Therefore, only one night of lodging prior to the Board meeting is covered by SVU, along with meals the day of the Board Meeting. Travel to and from the Annual Conference is NOT covered.

Next Steps

Following the application deadline, the Governance Committee will review and put forward a slate of candidates approved by the SVU Board of Directors to participate in the election by voting members. This will begin in early September. Following the results of the election, one Technologist Director; two At-Large Directors; and one Student Director will be elected by the SVU Board of Directors at its SVU meeting in late September. The results of the election will be shared by early October.

SVU has open Officer positions on its Executive Committee:
President Elect, Secretary and Treasurer.

To be eligible for a SVU Officer:

  • Applicants shall have achieved and maintained a professional credential in vascular technology and have served a term on the Board of Directors.
  • The Physician Director, Vendor Director, At-Large Directors and Student Director are ineligible to hold an officer position.
  • To be eligible to serve as President, an individual must have first served in another officer position.

If you are eligible and interested in an Officer position, please complete this application by August 19, 2025 at 11:59pm ET. 

Officers serve two-year terms.

President-Elect
The President-Elect shall perform the duties of the President during the absence or disability of the President. The President-Elect shall serve as Chair of such committees as may be determined by the Board of Directors. Upon the completion of their term, the President-Elect shall automatically succeed to the office of the President.
Secretary
The Secretary, under the direction of the Board of Directors, shall have general supervision of the keeping of records of meetings, activities, membership, Board of Directors policies, and any other records required by law.
Treasurer
The Treasurer, under the direction of the Board of Directors, shall have general supervision of the fiscal affairs of the Society and other records required by law. The Treasurer shall chair the Finance Committee and oversee the performance of an annual audit or review by a certified public accountant.
