The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) is pleased to announce that R. Eugene Zierler, MD RPVI FACS, has been selected as the next Journal for Vascular Ultrasound Editor-in-Chief.
“Dr. Zierler is a longtime supporter of SVU, and was chosen from a group of very highly qualified candidates,” said Anita Harrington, chair of the JVU EIC Selection Committee.
“I have been a member of the SVU since 1984 when it was known as the Society of Non-invasive Vascular Technology (SNIVT), and I have been a regular reader of the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound since that time, although it was called Bruit in the early day,” said Dr. Zierler when asked why he applied for the position.
As for his vision as Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Zierler hopes to expand JVU’s reach beyond SVU.
“While the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound has been an important part of the SVU mission over the years, one of my major goals is to extend the role of the Journal to the larger vascular ultrasound community.”
“Vascular sonographers are the core constituency of the SVU and the readership of the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound, but there are a variety of other professional stakeholders in vascular imaging that could benefit from the Journal, so reaching out to those groups will be an important step in elevating the status of the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound.”
Dr. Zierler’s term as Editor-in-Chief officially began on January 1st, 2021.
