The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) is pleased to announce that its updated Professional Performance Guidelines (PPGs) are now available on the SVU website.
As a leading professional resource for the vascular ultrasound community, SVU develops and maintains these guidelines to support quality, consistency and best practice across the profession. The PPGs represent the minimal essential elements of performance recommended by SVU and serve as an important resource for vascular ultrasound professionals and laboratories.
The guidelines are intended to support the development and updating of laboratory-specific procedures and complement SVU’s Scope of Practice and Clinical Practice Standards.
This marks the first comprehensive update to the PPGs since 2019. As part of the 2026 review, the guidelines were evaluated and updated for formatting consistency, language clarity, inclusion of exam times, and clarification of exam protocols and terminology.
SVU plans to continue reviewing the PPGs on a regular basis and considering opportunities for future updates or additional guidance as needs emerge within the profession.
As part of that process, SVU is inviting feedback, questions, and comments on the current PPGs through October 30, 2026. A feedback form is available on the Professional Performance Guidelines webpage for members and the broader vascular ultrasound community to share input for future consideration.
