The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) is proud to recognize incoming Student Director Austin McHenry, whose election to the SVU Board of Directors was recently highlighted by Owens Community College and Toledo television station WTOL.
McHenry, a Vascular Sonography student at Owens Community College in Perrysburg, Ohio, was elected to serve as SVU Student Director beginning January 1, 2027. In this role, he will bring the student perspective to the SVU Board of Directors, helping represent the next generation of vascular ultrasound professionals.
In a recent feature published by Owens Community College, McHenry shared his enthusiasm for the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, build connections, and further develop his knowledge and skills.
“I’m just thankful. I’m excited to learn something that’s pivotal towards my future, and I’m going to go all in with it,” McHenry shared in the Owens Community College article.
McHenry was encouraged to pursue the position by Owens Sonography Chair Julie Posey and adjunct instructor Abraham Ettaher, RVT, who also serves as SVU Treasurer. He is expected to graduate from Owens in Spring 2027.
Continuing a Tradition of Student Leadership
McHenry will succeed current SVU Student Director Morgan Pearce, RVT, who was recently elected to an At-Large Director position on the SVU Board for a three-year term beginning January 1, 2027.
Pearce’s transition from Student Director to At-Large Director reflects the opportunities for continued involvement and leadership within SVU, demonstrating how student engagement can grow into lasting professional service.
SVU congratulates Austin on his election and the well-deserved recognition from his local community. We look forward to welcoming him to the Board and continuing to support the next generation of vascular ultrasound leaders.
