Executive Director James Wilkinson to pursue new opportunity
LANHAM, MD October 12, 2020
After five years of successful leadership, Society for Vascular Ultrasound Executive Director James Wilkinson is voluntarily stepping down to pursue a new opportunity.
Under Mr. Wilkinson’s leadership, SVU reached a membership peak of over 6,400, an all-time high, and launched the SVU Foundation, which began awarding its first research grants in 2020. Other notable achievements include the launch of the SVU Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Council; preparing the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound (JVU) for inclusion in the PubMed index; and pivoting the 2020 SVU Annual Conference into the highly successful Vision2020 Virtual Conference.
“James provided stability and leadership during a time of growth for SVU and the establishment of the SVU Foundation. The SVU and Foundation Boards wish him the best of continued professional success,” said SVU President Kelly Byrnes.
“I want to thank the SVU and SVU Foundation Boards for giving me the opportunity to serve a wonderful organization representing a profession with fantastically talented and dedicated individuals. We accomplished a great deal in 5 years, and I have made many great friends along the way. I’m looking forward to my next professional challenge,” said Mr. Wilkinson.
The SVU Board has a detailed plan to ensure smooth continuous operations for SVU and the Foundation during the search and transition periods. The Board has begun formation of a search committee and has engaged Purposeful Hire, Inc., to assist in the search process.
The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) is the professional society for vascular lab professionals, including sonographers, vascular surgeons and other physicians, and other allied health specialties. SVU boasts over 6,400 individual members nationally and internationally.
