The Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) is pleased to announce David L. Dawson, MD, FSVU, has been selected as the next Editor-in-Chief of the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound (JVU), effective January 1, 2024.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Dawson as the next Editor of the JVU,” said Josh Lee, President of the SVU. “Dr. Dawson was selected for this role based on his experience serving on editorial boards and his commitment to advancing the field of vascular ultrasound. His vision will undoubtedly strengthen the journal’s impact and relevance in our field. We look forward to Dr. Dawson’s tenure with the JVU and are excited to see his plans for advancement take shape.”
The JVU is the official quarterly peer-reviewed publication of the SVU. With a circulation of approximately 5,000 SVU members, sonographers and institutions, the JVU covers the unique overlay of vascular ultrasound technology and vascular medicine; and is the go-to resource for vascular laboratory professionals to find the latest technology, techniques, research, case studies and more.
“I welcome the opportunity to serve as Editor-in-Chief of the JVU,” said Dr. Dawson. “As a member of the SVU since 1990, I understand the important roles that vascular laboratory professionals have in the care of patients with arterial and venous diseases. The JVU is a uniquely valuable resource for technologists and physicians. It will be an honor to serve in my new capacity and commit to continuing the process of improvement and growth of the Journal that my predecessor, Dr. Gene Zierler, so effectively directed.”
About David Dawson
Dr. David L. Dawson is a vascular surgeon in active practice at the Baylor Scott and White Health Medical Center in Temple, TX. A graduate of the University of Southern California School of Medicine, he completed his surgical training at the University of Washington. Since completing his fellowship in 1992, he has had a distinguished military career (he retired from Air Force at the rank of colonel); has been recognized for his academic contributions as an educator, researcher, author, and editor; and has had significant leadership roles in professional organizations involved in education, certification, and accreditation of vascular laboratories.
